Mayfest at the Opera House in Budapest

Hungarian State Opera

A new initiative of the Hungarian State Opera is the Mayfest Opera Festival, which reflects the ideas of Music Director Ádám Fischer. During the eleven days of the festival world-famous musician will perform in the Ybl Palace. The guest star of the opening concert will be the number one soprano, Cecilia Bartoli. The performance of the artist is organized jointly by the Hungarian State Opera and the Palace of Arts, strengthening the relationship between the two cultural institutions.

The program of the May Holiday Festival will include – apart from the premiere of Händel’s Xerxes Opera - Traviata, Turandot, Tosca and Rigoletto just to name a few. Alongside Cecilia Bartoli guests of the festival will include Elena Mosuc, Charles Castronovo, Renato Bruson, Sylvie Valayre, Marcello Giordani, Michele Crider, Gustavo Porta, Juan Pons, Roberto Frontali, and the excellent conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi.
