Tokaj Wine
The Tokaj Aszú – “the wine of kings” – is the Tokaj Wine region’s most famous wine; it is dessert wine matured for three years in the special barrels. The various qualities of it are graded from 3 to 6 puttonyos; the higher the grading the more expensive the price. The other wines characteristic of the region are the Szamorodni, the Furmint, and the Hárslevelű.
Unicum
This is a bitters sold in a distinctive round black bottle. Its origins are over two centuries old, and it is best drunk cold. Available in a range of sizes.
Pálinka
Pálinka is a traditional type of brandy that is produced from fruits. It is usually made from plums, apricots, pears and cherries.
Red paprika
Although paprika itself is of American origin, the grinding of it is a particularly Hungarian invention. It is an absolutely essential ingredient in traditional Hungarian cooking.
